Do not want to lose data on SATA drive

I recently bough a 500GB sata to re-install windows onto, as my old IDE 60gb drive is making a real racket. I'd already installed another 160GB SATA drive, which I was using for storing photos and music etc onto. I was using RAID to view the data on the 160GB, but since I added the 500GB, I can't access the 160 at all. Windows sees the drive in disk manager, but not in DOS.
Is this just a case of making sure the RAID driver is installed in the BIOS?
Should I install windows on the 500GB SATA, remove the old 60GB IDE drive and then hope the 160GB shows up when I plug it back in?
Is there another way? I've tried mirroring, but it asks me to format the 160GB, which I obviously don't want to do.
