I just recently put together my system powered by an e6850 which should be running at a solid 3ghz. When I booted up cpuz however it shows a core clock of 1998mhz with a multiplier of only 6x. In the bios the multiplier is set to 9x. This problem doesn't seem to be hurting the performance of my computer though and while running super pi 1m i was able to pull off 17sec which seems like an average number for an e6850. Why is cpuz showing me only 2ghz of core clock?

its a power saving feature from intel, and the lowest multi for core2's is 6x...so when your not taxing the cpu it will throttle down.. if you want to see your 3ghz, open up a demanding task and watch cpuz..it will go up

later
