I just finished putting together a new system, and am having problems with the computer freezing randomly, and the only way fix it is to reset it. Specs are as follows:

Intel C2D E6750 @ 2.66GHz (not overclocked)
2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800
Asus P5N-E SLI Mobo
BFG GeForce 8500GT
Lite-On DVD DL Burner
2x WD 160GB SATA2 HDDs
500W Ultra Modular PSU.

I think its the PSU causing the problems. The PSU only has a 20 pin mobo connector, but the motherboard uses a 24 pin setup. I am ordering a 600W OCZ StealthXStream PSU, but wanted you guys opinions as well.

The 500w is a new PSU? All the new PSU's I have seen lately have a 4 pin connector you use along with the 20, that way the unit can be used for both new and old Mobo's. There should be 2 - 4 pin connectors, 1 for the CPU power and a similar one that is to be used with the Mobo 20 pin if needed.

To Martell77: The 500W PSU was new 6-7 months ago, I just ended up getting a better one for my rig, snd just decided to use it for this one I just built. And it only had the extra 4-pin for the CPU, no 20+4 pin combo.

hmm, I haven't seen a 20 only conenctor on a psu in a while. I would say that is more than likely the issue. Just not getting the power to everywhere is needs to be. The one your ordering should be more than enough.

Good luck

How much is the one you are ordering? Newegg has the OCZ GameXStream 700W for $100 right now after $35 mail in rebate and it would be a better PSU IMO. It's woth the extra $10-15 anyway if you can afford to get it. I see newegg has the 600W StealthStream for roughly $90 after shipping and rebates are figured in...I'd go with the 700W if you can.
