Ok - the title says most of it. I have $300 in my pocket right now and can buy whatever I want.

What would be best spent? I currently have this rig:

AMD X2 5200 @ 3.0 GHZ
EVGA 590sli mobo
EVGA 7600GT
Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
Viewsonic 22"LCD 1680x1050
Hiper 580w PSU (38a on 12v rail)

I hopefully can save about $50-$100 in the next two weeks and add that to it. I just wonder where the sweet spot is???

Any ideas?

8800GTS 320?

8800GTS 640?

ATI HD 2900?

SLI anything else nVidia?

Ideas please!! I'm wasting away with Bioshock at 1200x800 on my 7600GT with about 18-22 fps

THANKS!!!!!

I'd go with the 8800GTS 640, 1680x1050 seems high enough to take advantage of extra memory.

Best choice would be to nab a EVGA 8800 GTS...Then save up some extra cash till the g92 comes out then step up. This way you can enjoy a good graphcis card now as well as get the newest addition when it comes out. Then after that I'd recommend saving up for a new processor so you don't bottleneck...But with this possibility you can get the best graphics card in the market...then just save up some cash to nab a c2d processor or barcelona depending on your preferences...after you step up that is...win win...

Atleast this way you'll have a computer that can last you a VERY long time for a small ammount.

which is weird considering Bioshock is sponsered by Nvidia.

It was good to see this post. I am running a similar spec with a X2 6000+ and resolution of 1680 x 1050 but had no idea what fps I am getting at lowest settings.

Another vote for eVGA 8800 GTS 640 MB. The HD2900 would be a good choice too but it's hotter and noisier and it doesn't have anything like eVGA's step-up program.

Yes 8800gts scales better with all games and better image quality than 2900xt. x2900xt is all over the place.
