This build is for a new PC that will be used in a tiny room so space is everything. However since this will also be a Media Center PC, Games Machine and a PC for my degree work, it needs to have some clout.

I wanted to use the SG33G5M as my barebones and then build it from there. The spec was going to be as follows:

Core 2 Quad Q6700 Processor
Kingston 4gb Kit (2x2gb) Ddr2 667mhz Memory Ecc Reg With Parity Cl5 Dimm Kit Of 2 Dual Rank X8
Western Digital Raptor 150GB Hard Disk - possibly two of these to put into RAID 0 array
Shuttle PN18, 54 MBit WLAN Module, 802.11g, for Shuttle XPCs

Either a Leadtek GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) Graphics card or a Sapphire Radeon X1950PRO or XT 512MB PCI Card with HDMI connectors. Shuttle can confirm that the barebones will be compatible with the above components.

However, with only a 250 Watt power supply I cant see that being true.

Any input on the subject?

You really don't want to do raid 0. It's a lot of extra cash and a waste of a hard drive for a very, very small performance gain. I'd suggest one of these: http://www.buildmyrig.com/content/view/56/118/ instead, which is almost as fast as the one you chose and holds a heck of a lot more stuff (which you'll need for a media center).

When it says those parts will be compatible, I imagine it means only that the socket types line up. I have my doubts that the 8800GTX would even fit in the case since the card is so huge. There's also zero possibility that the 250W PSU could power a GTX.

Why are you wanting to build from a barebones system? In general, it isn't a very good idea except for low-performance builds. I'd suggest getting a microATX case and motherboard and getting a decent PSU to go along with it.

Here are some microATX MB's I'd suggest at the bottom of this page: http://www.buildmyrig.com/content/view/18/51/

Any microATX or regular ATX case will work with it.

I want to use a 10,000rpm hard disk as my main hard drive and have a 750GB eSATA hard disk for extra storage.

Can you suggest an alternative case that will be a good alternative to the Shuttle case that will house this microATX board?

This is the one I'd go with. It's larger than some, but you're going to need the extra space.

brynnb thanks for the suggestion - case looks pretty roomy although the whole idea of the motherboard being upside down is a little weird.

One small point though - I live in the UK so newegg links wont work for me unless newegg ship abroad.

Was looking for something which I could stack underneath or on top of a Panasonic Mini System like this one:

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/mini/sc-ak750eb-k/index.htm

The Shuttle case fits nicely on top of underneath that unit which is what I need in my very small room thats why I was so hellbent on that particular case.

Any other ideas for an micro ATX case which is about the size of a shuttle xpc??

I built my rig in an Apevia X-QPACK2. It is spacious, with room inside for a standard ATX PSU. The one it comes with is probably not trustworthy enough (Apevia / Aspire PSUs are on the "Do not buy" tier of the PSU list), but I put a Mushkin modular in mine and it works well. The only real problem I had was the power switch was shorted closed, so I'm using Reset for Power until I decide if it's worth replacing.
The case will fit two hard drives (more if you use the external bays), and has front and rear fans. My temps stay low. I'm running an e6750 and a 7900GS, both at stock (for now).

There is ALWAYS a drone. Exactly where, or how many drones you will encounter may vary, but that there will be at least one will not.

I don't really have personal experience with microATX cases but you can look at this link:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] PC+Desktop
And find one you like. After you find one you can try to find a site that ships within the UK. I'd recommend looking through the reviews and seeing if someone mentioned whether or not the card you want wil fit.
