How do i reinstall an application on windows xp?

Hello,
I am getting an error when I log on. Reader_sl.exe-unable to locate component application not found. "This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem" I have tried several things but it has not fixed the problem. I have windows XP.

Out of Curiosity,have you tried re-installing Adobe Reader?

That is what "reader_sl.exe" is associated with and referring to when it
says "Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

Reader_sl.exe is part of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.
Or if you want, just delete the icon from the Start > Programs > Startup.
The app is really not necessary to run at startup
