New PC Spec - Please Help

Im currently trying to spec a new computer - I have a budget of roughly £1000 - I need a monitor and Vista premium. This is what I have so far, I'm not sure whether to go for the Intel Core2 processors or the Athlon AM2 ones.

Could you please give me some ideas as to what to buy for the best performance and the greatest upgradeability - and If my above choices are ok.

I'd get a P35 mobo and the best CPU I could afford with what ever I had left over. Given the price differences between the US and Great Britain for parts as well as the exchange rate tough to make specific recommendations
