Hey all. I just put together a nice new rig:

Intel e6750
ASUS P5K Deluxe/wifi
OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB), DDR2-800, 4-4-4-15
OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI ATX12V 600W
BFG 8800GTS Overclocked

When I first put this together...everything ran fine. I manually set the BIOS to the proper settings, and also upgraded to the latest bios (0501 Beta). Since then, a week has past.

A few days ago, I noticed that when I turn the power on, the system would begin to boot...then before POST, would shut off....then start back up a few seconds later. It seemed strange, but when my system booted, everything ran just fine. The problem has since gotten worse. This morning when I turned it on...no POST, no Beeps, but all my lights were on, fans turning, HD's running, but didn't go anywhere. After about 6 tries, it booted into windows and ran perfectly.

Anyone know what this might be? I have read on a few other forums that it can be the PSU, motherboard, ram, CPU.....=P....I would hate to RMA EVERYTHING I just got. I really want to narrow it down (I'll do memtest this afternoon to at least count the ram out).

Any help would be great!

I thought I remember hearing something about a MOBO issue (not sure which one exactly) but they said the MOBO would cause the computer to turn off and then back on at startup. It was fairly "common" with the board as lots of people had reported the same problem. I am not saying that is what YOU have but it MAY be......

Try and re-seat your components one by one. Start with the RAM: Try to boot with just one stick, if it works, then try the other. If you have no changes there, then you know it is most likely not your RAM. If you are getting power to your MOBO but not getting the post beeps, it just means that something in the check list on power-up did not pass, so your PC will not power up to avoid damage.

You can also try re-seating your processor and CPU cooler. Sometimes, things come loose.

I'll start resetting everything when I get home and test a few things out.

It just seems weird that this morning after 6 tries to start the thing up, everything ran absolutely fine (heck, I even managed to get a few mins of BioShock in).

I'll post back with my findings...cause apparently, I'm not the only one.

Ok, after unhooking everything from my motherboard and putting things back one by one....I'm confident that this problem is coming from the SATA ports.

It was weird how I got to it. I removed the memory first then powered on....no beeps, but everything turned on....next the GPU...same thing...no beeps, everything still on. Next I took out the CPU....ya think that would make the motherboard beep...Nope!

It was really taxing my brain, so I pulled off everything that was giving life to that motherboard and attached everything one by one. Low and behold, I got beeps! Eventually, I got to the point where when I plugged in a SATA cable (didn't even have to be attached to a drive), nothing...no beeps, no love.

I still have a problem though...I want to avoid RMAing this thing until I know for sure it's completely dead on me. I'm hoping it's just a BIOS setting or faulty cables. And apparently, others are getting SATA probs on their boards too.

one last note...i did clear the CMOS...removed the battery and everything. Also, without a SATA cable plugged in, I can get to the BIOS everytime. Anymore thoughts?
