Ok so, I have a little problem. Last night I shut off my computer, nothing odd happened it just shut down. Then this morning I go to turn it on and it starts normally and then the OS (Vista) doesn't come up just a blinking prompt. So then I hit the reset thinking that it will start normally, the lights come on, the fans start and then the computer just shuts off. No beeps come from the computer to tell me the problem. So I take it out and start removing components thinking that I have a bad power supply. I remove 3/4 sticks of RAM and start it again...same thing. I then remove all the RAM...same thing. Then I unplug the graphics card and one of my hard drives...same thing. Finally I took out my cpu and the computer stays on this time with the hard drive spinning and all the fans but no beeps nothing. Same thing happened when I stuck a stick of RAM back in. And now I am really at a loss I can't tell if it is the power supply or the cpu or what so I could use some ideas. Thanks.

Sounds like you removed everything escept the MB. Try resetting the CMOS jumper to default the MB BIOS. be sure to unplug the computer from the power supply and remove the battery when you reset it. When you said you removed ALL the RAM and got no beeps, no nothing that suggests the a MB problem. The MB should have beeped signifying no RAM present. Same with the video card being removed.

Alright well, I have no idea what the deal is, it suddenly works. However, I have no idea if it is going to happen again. In light of this new information I am thinking it is the power supply, but I wanted to get a second opinion.
thanks
