Hi . I want to know if its ok to change the orientation of the hard disk when its running, i.e , normally they are placed horizontally (flat ) in our pc. What if i put my pc case on its side so that the hard disk is now at right angles to the position it was before.

Is this a safe position to keep the hard disk when its operating. (the pc is running)?

It doesn't matter what orientation the hard drive is when installed. I have drives in the vertical and horizontal position and they run just fine. Upside down, backside up, downside up, frontside..... doesn't matter. Just dont move them when they are running.

They can run in any position but try not to run them upside down. The problem with upside down is that you run an increased risk that something could fall on the exposed circuitry causing a short circuit.
