Hi . I want to know if its ok to change the orientation of the hard disk when its running, i.e , normally they are placed horizontally (flat ) in our pc. What if i put my pc case on its side so that the hard disk is now at right angles to the position it was before.

Is this a safe position to keep the hard disk when its operating. (the pc is running) for the long run?

i have one old eMachines with an XP2200, that
came with a 30 GB Maxtor on its "long side".

i had another old eMachines, which originally came
with the hard drive mounted connector end up.

i know eMachines doesn't have a great rep but
they were both good computers till they were
retired.

i wouldn't move the computer when it's actually
on. from the original post, "I want to know if its
ok to change the orientation of the hard disk
when its running", i'm not sure if you're talking
about mounting the hard drive differently or
moving it around when it's spinning.
