Hey guys, I currently have a 7900gs with about 28 days left to step up with evga. With new nvidia cards coming soon, will the 8800gts 320 see a price drop at all this month? thanks

In 28 days? I seriously doubt it, and truthfully I believe that the 8800 series' price won't go down much and the 8800GTX/Ultra will probably be discontinued or something like that when the 9 series come out (some day).

I got a gts 320 a few months ago for $330AUS ex gst.
Now they are $340 :/
So no, dont expect a decrease until the 9800's are actually released.

Whats the deal with Evga's step up program? Evga are available in some parts of Aus so I was considering them as a potential brand to buy.

1)Buy evga card
2)register card for the program
3)new card comes out within 90 days of purchase/registration (not sure which)
4)select card to step-up to
5)pay the difference between what you payed and eVGA's price for the new one.

AFAIK, the evga step up prog on ONLY avilable in USA/Canada.

If u can get it, just do the maths. Evga cards are more expensive. Pretty sure u pay for postage when upgrading too. So u have that additional cost along with paying a little extra for TWO cards.

Many ppl like this prog, i wouldnt bother with it TBO.

Also... the limit IS 3 months, just make sure there will be a newer card available within that time. Id be sceptical that the 9800s will be out in 3 months.

As for th OP...
No the cards wont drop in price for some time
Yes u will see a decent boost if u got for a gts
Upgrade now (if u can/want) or wait till the new cards come out.
