$40 is really cheap, have you checked the quality of their PSUs? Unless you're getting it from Midnight parts sales :)

I hope "Raw Deal" is not what you are in for by purchasing an inexpensive PSU from an apparently foreign supplier. I did not find many English links referencing the PSU and did not see any reviews. The site you linked to seemed to be the manufacturers website but they did not even had their own domain name and provided little information about the PSU. What happens when you need service? They might be very capable and it might be a great PSU - but how do you know?

You might want to consider an Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU. I just purchased one online from Frys on sale for $49.99 - NO rebate required - marked down from $89.99. A real deal.

http://shop2.outpost.com/product/5086635

The Frys stores in San Jose CA area also have the same special in their stores and you save the shipping - I bought mine online and paid $8 for ground shipping. By the way - this unit is certified to have 80% or better efficiency accross most power ranges and has two 12 volt rails @ 17A each.

You might also find this link helpful: Recommended Sub-$150, high-efficiency PSU's

http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1460

You will see the Antec Earthwatts PSU on the list and at the above price it is 1/2 to 1/3 of most other items listed.

That same website also has a review on this PSU:

Thank you for your links and concern rockyjohn & g-paw.
Actually I'm danish and this PSU seems to be selling very well here in scandinavia, I read a thread regarding this PSU on a Swedish forum as well as a Danish forum, people where asking about the quality of this PSU and everyone who owned one never experienced any problems with it, at least not yet that is... It would be sad if it ends up frying my computer for sure, but it probably won't, it does have protection of over-voltage, over-current and short-current so I highly doubt it. If against all odds it where to happen I am prepared for the consequences... I'll buy a new computer within 6 - 10 month anyhow and in the meanwhile I guess my girlfriend will need to lend me my back my old comp. hehe

My personal belief is that this company is trying to get a foot in on this exploding market now that everyone needs to upgrade their PSU along with their GPU.

All speculative though..

It's not unusual for computer stores here in Scandinavia to have their own brands. An example could be shg.dk. A widely known and respected hardware shop in Denmark. They do this with their PSU's, they claim that their "SHG Computers" PSU is build by one of the leading company's, but by making it their own brand they are able to cut the manufactures distributor out of the deal, hereby being able to sell quality PSU's cheaper. One can then choose to believe it or not of course. :)

Thanks for the informative response. Europe has many fine manufacturers that are not well known here, but the practice of private branding is.
I like your Plato quote by the way. Ain't it the truth.
