Raid 5......I used 3 WD 160 16m drives. Would i get faster speeds (I/O's, read/writes)with a fouth drive? I also installed vista 64 bit, I read an OS installed on a Raid takes a spped hit? Is this true? Whats the best why to test my speeds ?

Theoretically, the more drives in a RAID 5 array, the more performance you should see because there are more drive heads to share the reads/writes in parallel. However, I suppose there are diminishing returns due to the increased overhead.

I'm not aware of an OS-specific performance hit other than the RAID overhead. But the RAID, depending on its configuration, should be more performant than a single drive anyway.
