More Information

After doing a search, the last time someone asked about a good SATA DVD burner was in August, so I'll assume that newer, possibly better drives have come out since then.

Anyways, for my next computer project, what's the best, or overall good DVD burner with LightScribe (as of the time of this posting)? I have no idea, there are a few that look good to me, but the reviews for them have been mixed (LightScribe crapping out immediately, DOA, BSoD, catching on fire, etc.), any good suggestions? Not looking into HD or Blu-Ray, since they up the price tag more than 8x that of a regular writer, just a nice, reliable, and fast burner with good capabilities on most disc formats.

On my own searches, there are two that caught my eye,

Asus 20X DVD, DRW-2014L1T
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6827135156

Samsung 20X DVD, SH-S203N
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6827151154

I'm leaning more to the Samsung with its reported writing speeds and popularity here, the reviews make me uneasy about it though...Are these two writers fine, or are there other good/better options?

I'm planning to run Vista Ultimate 64-bit on this next computer, last time I checked, quite a few burners didn't work at all with Vista, things look different now, but just checking to be sure. Also going with an A64 x2 6400+ for CPU and 2 gigs of Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1066 as memory. Any other info that is required, just ask, and thanks for reading.
