So last week a picked up a Q6600 B3. Still waiting on my x23 paste so instead of not using the chip at all, i decided to wack the stock cooler on.

First thing i notice... the HEAT! Boy, they arent wrong when they say a quad produces twice the heat, duh.
I mean even on my E4300 1.8 -> 3.2, the heat was there, it was an issue but it was managable, under control.
With a quad, DAYAM the heat is ferocious, insecent, out of control.

Now after the first boot, i did what anyone would do, OC the chip. Tried 3.0 first, but it was crazy heat.
Finally settled on 2.7 and it was BARELY surviving.

So after a few tests:
Idle: 50c
Load: 70c before i stopped it
V: ~1.25

So after awhile getting upset i decided to drop the volts.
Did 2 notches at a time and used wprime to hammer all cores.
As the volts dropped temps became more civilised.
Thing is... they just KEPT dropping :bounce:
Did the anit vdroop pencil mod on the P5B-D

As it sits now the 2.7Ghz is running 1.1v and 1.09 under load (speedfan) 1.285 stock i think.
WTF is up with THAT!
I mean, if i run stock i could probably run 0.975v
:pt1cable: :pt1cable: :pt1cable: :pt1cable:

If anyone is running similar let me know, cos ive never run this low before

Stats:
Idle: 45-50
Load: 65c
V: 1.09 (load)

lol 70c? thats high for stock intel cooler let alone a crappy heat pipe - the compound needs to flow and heat sink needs to seat ????

I sat mine on but I didnt have any thermal paste so I thought id just turn it on to have a look, and the temps got up to 90 lol.

Only for a few seconds tho, so no harm done.
