I seem to be having a problem with my computer whenever im playing warcraft

after a while of playing i start to see all these artifacts:
http://www.glass-prison.com/artifact.jpg

looks like alot of unrendered polygons that eventually take up my entire screen and its unplayable

this only seems to happen in outdoor areas though

at other times, my monitor tells me its receiving no signal from the gfx card and the screen goes black. sometimes i get random restarts. sometimes i get freezes.

i cant be sure which effect ill get on a given day, but im sure to get at least one of them

anyone know whats wrong?

Sounds like a bad/overheating video card - but without ANY of your hardware listed - who knows?

Whats your system specs?

I have had the same issue on my comp and think I have finally found the problem. First off, my specs:

P4 3.2Ghz w/HT
HIS X1650Pro 512mb AGP 8x w/IceQ cooler
1 GB PC2700
Windows XP
PC-Cillin Internet Security 2007

Since Burning Crusade came out I have been getting crashes and video artifacts. I have tried updating and reverting the video drivers. I tried overclocking and underclocking the vid card. I have tried just about everything but I keep crashing and getting an error about "insufficient resources to complete request..common.mpq". I finally gave up and re-installed Windows, only to have the same issue.

I think I have found the solution tho. When I play, I am now shutting off my AV which includes a firewall. Since I began doing this I have not crashed. Even tho I opened the ports as Blizzard suggested, I think my AV was trying to scan all the incoming packets from WoW. When I fly in the game or enter a busy city the traffic increases and overloads my system memory.

I figured this out because I can play Oblivion, Doom3, and the Bioshock Demo without any issues. But WoW was crashing, the difference is that I don't play those online and so my AV and firewall don't do anything with those programs. (note: this was never an issue before BC)

Please list your specs and include any AV or scanning software you run, it may be the same issue.

Hope this helps.

sorry im just so used to having my system specs link in my sig. here they are anyway:

Core 2 Duo E6600
P5B Deluxe (1004 BIOS)
Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400C4 (2GB)
HIS x1950XT IceQ3 Turbo
Corsair 620W PSU
Tuniq Tower 120

coincidence that we're both using HIS ati cards?

AV im using avast. firewall is sunbelt kerio

i dont think its a firewall or AV issue. ive had those programs for years and no problems. these artifacts and crashes only came up in the last couple of months

Use ATItool to monitor your GPU temp, check fan is clear and spins easily.

Mike.
