C2D E4500 problem with N650SLI-DS4?

Hello all.

I just got some new hardware today: a N650SLI-DS4 MB, eVGA 8600 GT and 2 x 1 GB of Adata DDR2-800 RAM. I was trying to use this with a C2D E4500 CPU, that works fine in a 8I865GME-775-RH-AS MB.

The problem is, the new hardware combination doesn't work. It doesn't even show a POST screen.

Now, I realize that any of the 3 hardware components may be at fault, or maybe even that the new MB isn't compatible with the E4500 (although I doubt it). Unfortunately I don't own any other PCIe/DDR2 hardware to try the new components in, to do a step-by-step elimination.

What's strange is that earlier the E4500 was mentioned as "maybe compatible" with the DS4, but now it is not even listed. I have sent a message to Gigabyte, but it's probably going to take a week before they reply and I'm in a bit of a hurry...

Question: has anyone here tried the E4500 on a N650SLI-DS4, and did it work?
