Hi, my friend gave me a copy of Vista Home Premium 64-bit and I installed it on my system that has an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600.

The installation worked and I'm running it now.

Is this a bad thing to do? Are there any negatives to this at all?

So is my system running in 64-bit or 32-bit? I thought the E6600 was a 32-bit only processor? What's going on that would make you say it could make my computer lag a bit more?

I have 2GB Crucial Ballistix. Is that enough?

E6600 is not a 32-bit only CPU. It can do 64-bit just fine. If you installed 64-bit Vista, you're running 64-bit.
With 64-bit OS, you can use all 4GB of RAM, not just 3.2(whatever it might be) when running 32-bit Vista.

2GB is enough, but you'll probably want to get more in the future.

If your friend give you the a 64 bit VISTA home preium it's probably 64bit... To check go to c\windows\system??
if the ?? is 32 you have 32 if it's 64 you got 64 or you could read the retail box. I never said you didn't have enough ram i said getting more will improve your performance but if you are not a gamer don't worryt abo9ut it for the slightest bit. Only a AMD fanboi would poison you with the idea that e6600 was 32 bit only processer

well the CD says "This disc contains 64-bit software only"

And my computer properties says it's running 64-bit Operating System.

So why does it says c:\windows\system32?

Any definitive answers?

That is the way MS has organized their windows system folder, nothing more - legacy naming and has -0- to do with the fact you're running a 64bit OS.
