I am building a computer for the 1st time, thinking of an Antec 900 case.  Thinking of atleast 500 W - thinking of a high quality brand - what is the best PSU around that I can afford for £50???

Slip one of these puppies in http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Pro [...] tID=644038 so long as you don't go nuts on the graphic card side of things you should be OK.

There was also a 500 watt Seasonic S12 for 55 pounds at Scan as well. I couldn't get a link cuz I kept getting an error message. The Corsair that mousemonkey linked to is a good choice as well. That one has a single 33amp +12v rail so it could handle a 8800 GTS and maybe a GTX depending on what else was in the system.

Thanks for the input guys!  Still trying to think this one through.  At the moment I'm reading the power supplies chapter of Mike Meyer's A+ course guide.  I never realised  that there was so much to power supplies!

Cheers
