ok, here we go fellas!! i started this computer in feb 06 and i have been upgrading till now!!
this is what i have today!
windows xp on a 19" 1280x1024
msi k8n diamond plus 939 mb
x2 4800 2.4
2gb ddr400
8800gtx 575/1800
x-fi xtreme gamer sound
600 watt power
nothing is overclocked! i cant get it to work so i dont worry about it.
first off, i installed windows xp and downloaded all the newest drivers for everything today 9-9-07. installed 3dmark 06 and ran it at 1280x1024. i got "9000" kinda low huh?. movin on...
the first game i put on was oblivion i have it running at 1280x1024, everything maxed, hdr, no aa or no af. i get 45 fps very playable and pretty.. now battlefield 2142 1280x1024, everthing maxed, 4aa, on a 64 player map i get 55fps. now onto why i wrote this page!! should i be getting more frames than this or is these scores normal? i just ordered the new dell 24 inch monitor and i hope it wasn't a waste of money. Will i be able to turn stuff up a little higher and be alright? or have i made a stupid move? this is the last upgrade i can do because now this machine is maxed out and i cant get i new one for awhile, so what do u gamers think? will i be alright for another year or so????
with great games like quake wars, hellgate, crysis, unreal 3 coming out?
thanxs.

You should be getting more fps. Did you clean out your drivers?

3dmark score is little low but it could be also your cpu and your socket 939 cpu with ddr400.

In bf2142 you should be getting 100fps.

Oblivion you should be getting 100fps average.

how is that game btw?

You should be getting more FPS, wonder if your 4800 is bottlenecking that 8800GTX? Don't know much about AMD processers but what else can it be? What PSU do you have and how many amps on the 12 rails?

medal of honor is pretty dang fun and hard i like it.. my power supply is a ocz 600 powerextreme with 2 6pin pci express connectors running at 38amps. just tried lost coast 1280x1024 maxed out with 8aa and 16af videostress test and i got 105fps.

Great monitor... You should be ok. just don't scroll up and down over these posts b/c the grey banding will drive you wild. I still love mine anyway.

I disagree a bit, I dont think the Dell is that great a monitor. I personally bought the BenQ FP241W.

All the reviews around say it is better and I personally compared it to the Dell a while back and I really think its a better monitor. If its too late then too bad, but dont worry, the Dell is still pretty freaggin sweet.

Does your BenQ FP241W have this overscan option?

@gentrinity:
I disagree with you. I have Dell 24" HC edition, and I think it is on par if not superior to the BenQ. Perhaps you compared the previous non-HC model.

@catfishbucky1:
You will be just fine with the 24" monitor. Native resolution is 1920x1200, which your 8800gtx should eat through. I highly doubt that your processor is bottlenecking. I was pleasantly surprised that my framerates only dropped by about 5 when going from 1280x1024 to 1920x1200, and your video card annihilates mine. Besides, once you game on that 24" Dell, there will be no going back to a 19" dwarf screen.
