How to get rid of a "Partition" on C drive....

I bought a re-firbed Hp Pavilion the software was on a partition on the hard drive. How do I get rid of the partition? And pick up that extra space?

The partition you are refering to is most likely a restore partition of about 10GB. You can check the size in disk managment.
I advise you leave this alone, as it's ameans of restoring your system in case of a disaster.
If it is just a small restore partition it's not much to gain. New usb drives for storage are quite cheap.
