I recently moved into my new apartment. My ISP is Charter Communications. I set up my router (Netgear WGR614v5 I believe). The wirleess connection is great. I use a Linksys adapter to connect to the router and connects to the router at 54 mbps. However, whenever I try to play a game on my desktop (Warcraft III TFT) or plug a cable in from the router to my PS3, I can usually stay connected for a little bit before my connection drops and it takes about a minute or two before I get internet back. Is this problem with my cable modem or my router. I have not been able to plug the modem directly into my desktop because I do not have an ethernet cable that is long enough to reach it.

Any suggestions would be welcome and thank you.

bvis,
This sounds similar to a problem that I have and this is what I've done. When anyone is working or playing on the computer I have downstairs and I'm trying to watch streaming video (Hockey Games to be specific) on the computer upstairs, the signal drops and goes through the "Buffering Sequence" before it loads again. If I turn off the second computer and "do not have any additional programs or web sites" running in the background, the problem disappears.
