Xp file search problem

When I right click on Start then select Explore it opens a window.
When I click on the "search" button in the window.
The dog comes walking out on the left side but the search options above him are not there.
I have all the current updates and I am running service pack 3.
any help would be appreciated.

It seems that you have installed Windows Search 4.0.
Click on "Click here to use Search Companion" on left to that Dog (Search Companion).
A new window will open & you can see the Search options, as you wish!
