Windows xp LAN timing out

[IT MGR]

our firm has 12 windows xp sp3 workstations with all the updates.

Our server is a windows 2003 server r2 standard 32 bit.

The workstations never lose their internet connectivity, however, after an hour or so of inactivity they will lose their LAN connectivity to the server or other workstations, requiring the operators to log off the LAN and log back on.

How do we prevent the workstations from losing their LAN connectivity?
