I'm planning a gaming pc build mainly for mmorpgs, and want to know if this is a mistake. I won't be playing on the mega high resolutions.
this part of the site says the 640MB is better so I thought it might be a mix up. :heink:

I didn't explore to much, but those charts show a resolution of 1024 x 768. As the resolution increases the 640 GTS should take the lead.

That's my guess anyway... or it could be an error.

If you don't care about Hi Res texture settings in games, grab the 320. If you like them, shell out the extra 80$, sometimes it is almost the same price if you shop around.

Doom 3, GRAW 1, Quake 4... If you have less than 512Mb vRam the game only lets you set the textures to Medium.

I, personally, find High textures almost makes the game look like a new game, especially if you play the game on Medium Textures, then replay the game on a newer videocard.

You have a very fast and capable videocard with the 8800GTS, it really isn't worth crippling the card any further by only giving it 320Mb. If you play GRAW 2, Oblivion, and want to play Crisis in the future, grab the 640Mb. If you are a casual gamer and you just want to play occassionally, grab the 320Mb.

Oh, and if you get an EVGA, you can OC it in Ntune to be faster than the factory OC on the 320Mb cards without voiding the warranty.
