Conexant High-Definition SmartAudio 221 Driver
Presario F700 running Vista SP2; the audio icon on my task bar suddenly says NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE IS INSTALLED. When I try a download of Conexant High-Definition SmartAudio 221 from HP, which contains the user interface, it fails due to NO AUDIO DEVICE. After about 10 restarts, the audio reappeared and I had normal sound, for a while, and then it reverted back to NO AUDIO DEVICE. I again downloaded the SmartAudio 221 driver from the HP site and was told that the driver was already installed. I reinstalled the new driver and at the end, got the message UNABLE TO INSTALL NO AUDIO DEVICE.

Help, please.

Correction: When I use Device Manager, no audio device shows up. However, in Control Panel\ Programs\Programs and Features, HD Conexant Audio is shown, but I cannot uninstall it.
