I explained the horrors of how a cheap generic psu ends up costing a lot if and when something goes bad.

I am putting together a very basic (cheap) system for him and he wanted to use an old generic psu.......

I am purchasing his parts from newegg.

I was thinking of this one FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX400-PN ATX12V 400W Power Supply 120/220 - 240v NEMKO, TUV, CSA, IEC, UL, CE - Retail $39.99, but dont know if the low ends of FSP are worth it...

or this one

SILVERSTONE ST350 ATX12V 2.2 350W Power Supply 115/ 265V - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Go with the fsp fortron (or Sparkle, almost identical). Even the 350w version might be adequate for your system. Fsp underates their output by about 50w, if I remember correctly. They are conservative in their maximum ratings.
