I have a question about those front panels that come with the

http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=209&subcategory=669&product=16559

and the

http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=209&subcategory=669&product=14064

Aside from gaming and listening to music I also want to be able to record music.
It looks like the xtrememusic
http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=209&subcategory=669&product=14066
can be upgraded with one of those boxes

How exactly does this work?
would I have to purchase the upgrade console they sell?
http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=16&product=14711
or would I be able to purchase one made by a different manufacturer thats cheaper and/or better suits my needs

Is the connection used to connect these things to the sound card standardized? I don't know anything at all about this, i'm just totally confused -_-

DeusEx
are the speakers good enough??? well

Logitech Z-5300e
lacks auxiliary audio input; lacks digital audio input; has only acceptable sound quality
delivers 280W RMS power.........its ok but the

z5500's have
Onboard 5.1 Digital Decoding\ Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS 96/24, and PCM 96/24 decoder
power: 505 watts RMS
Sub-woofer: 188 watts RMS
THX Certified Sound
Digital and Analog Inputs: Add up to 6 components simultaneously
Wireless Remote: Controls up to seven sources

you should upgrade them if you are into games alot
its a good combo with the X-Fi XtremeGamer

im not into music at all so im not sure how you upgrade\record etc (check links below)but from what ive read around some people havent been unhappy with the music xfi and they recommend the other models.
If you want to record music with Creative, get the Elite Pro. The breakout box has a guitar input.
connections are stadardized --FlexiJack (Performing a 3-in-1 function, Digital In / Line In / Microphone) via 3.50 mm minijack
Line level out (Front / Rear / Center / Subwoofer / Rear Center) via 3.50 mm minijacks
AUX_IN line-level analog input via 4-pin Molex connector on card
1 AD_Link (26 pin) connector for linking to the X-Fi I/O Console (Upgrade option)

The Z5300's are pretty nice. Mine are paired with an X-Fi Fatal1ty, and I'm pretty impressed. Bass is heavy and midrange is a bit lacking, but you still get something that sounds a lot better than what you'd think you'd be getting for the price. Wires are a little short, but you can always fix that pretty easily. They sound good. Really, really good. Highs are very clear. Movies, music, games...they all sound good.

Every thread ive read on here says that the extreme music is better then the xtremegamer

But both of those seems to be old and hard to find at local stores

It seems they are phasing those out to make room for the fatality pro series, elite, etc...

I can either get a music online for like 70 bucks or get the newer fatality pro series for about 130.
What are the major differences aside from the 64 mb x-ram which (according to multiple threads on this site) is not really that big a deal, is it worth the nearly doubled price?

It was a $50.00 mail-in rebate. Must of expired. I'm waiting 2 months now for a $20.00 one from them on the card I already replaced.

I had purchased the X-Fi Xtreme Music edition simply because it was on sale and the card is identical to the Xtreme Gamer edition. I looked in the boxes to make sure. The only difference between them is some of the software that you receive with them. And you can actually switch the mode that the card is in from Games to Music and back when you want better performance for either purpose!
