I'd rather have a Zalman, but my current water cooling works well enough; just wish it was a bit quieter (although I can't tell if its the proccesor fan or the PSU).

That review is the IFX-14 without fans... plus atm its not "fixed".

With issue:

Just 1x 120mm fan too mind you.. can take 2x 140mm ones..

Im pretty confident this can outperform the ultra120-x if fully kited out, however since the reviews dont show it in that state, I'll admit 120-x seems better.

Ultima-90 with 92mm fan still bests them all for size/performance though. Just a few degrees off an ultra120-x and like 2 - 3cm smaller just for height.

Agreed.. Ultima 90 is a great performer.

The 120X can also take 2 120s in a push pull.

I like the design idea behind the IFX, it's pretty original.

Noctua NH-U12

http://www.xoxide.com/noctua-nh-u12-cooler.html

similar performance to the TR 120 but - flatter. a lot of people
are reporting flatness problems with the TR120 & TR120E.

it is not that hard to take an assembled heatsink and put it in
a fixture and flycut it to assure flatness. but that's the
manufacturer's job.

... good table format comparisons of the Scythe, the TR,
the Noctua, etc.

second favorite - Zalman 7700. very direct path from the
CPU to ambient air.

I have the Ultimate 120 extreme but need to change it out. While it fits in my case, there is a fan mount that I want to take advantage of and they get in the way of each other....

Ultra 120 is actually not flat for a reason.

Thermalright determined that the average IHS is actually concave. To make up for the lack of contact this might cause they "bowed" the bottom for a convex approach.
