Some time viruses can also cause this!

If you have antivirus/antimalware insalled in the system, run a full scan!
Check for threats!

If not installed any antivirus/ antimalware, Download & Install the following & do the scan!
1. Avira Anvivir - http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html .
Avira has very good internet security, real time updates, great overall protection.

2. Malwarebytes - http://www.malwarebytes.org/ .
Malwarebytes is one of the best malware scanners.

Sorry, I jumped the gun and wrote problem solved. Not true. :bounce:

I loaded down Windows Sysinternals to track down a symbol error in a svchost file and find that the .exe files do not hold on the cmd.exe screen. Info flashes for about a second and closes. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried opening the command prompt from the programs/accessories menu?

Check out this thread. Have you scanned for malware in safe mode?

Tried all of the suggested items, yours and the others, no help. Thanks, I'll keep at it.
