I currently have a 20GB ATA drive and a 80GB SATA drive installed. I am wanting to install 2-500gb to 750 gb Samsung hd's to replace the ones I have now and run it in raid 1 for peace of mind. How would I go about copying both old hard drives to the new ones so the new drives are mirrored? I know with the right software copying one would not be a problem but my os is on one and is full. The other drive is also full and filled with my picture and music. I have both a via and the promise raid controller and am also wondering which I should use. Also wondering what would would be the performance loss in going to raid 1 instead of striping to raid 0(other than the fact that I could lose ALL of my data in raid 0. I have a asus a8v deluxe board that I just upgraded to a x2 processor. Thanks for any help.
