Purchased the above Monitor.

Recommended Resolution is 1440 x 900. Whats to keep me from running higher?

Nothing really.
Xept the fact that lcd's look $h!tty if u run them at anything other than their native rez.

I don't have an LCD, but on my CRT if you go higher than the max you can't see the whole screen.

What keep you from running higher? The LCD itself. That resolution should be the native resolution which is the highest setting on that LCD. At least that is what I have experienced from the Three LCDs that I had owned

it wont let you set anything higher. recomended resolution means native... and you shouldnt run anything lower... ie 1280x800

Fuzzy text. LCDs have a "native resolution" where text looks nice, but they usually don't look good at other resolutions. Try, you may be just fine.

The resolution quoted for an LCD is the actual number of pixels that it has. So you can scale the resolution down, but not up.
