Cannot open any program

my name is paul
having a problem opening every program from firefox to control panel getting message class not registered when i click on selected items

funny, having same problem here. with laptop ..tried to open device manager, add new hardware, or some other programs from control panel . but tells me cannot open or program won't let you open..and windows will shut this program down until finds solution..when I try and download something from the internet that has to do with windows..like windows essentials..did not let me do it either..but was able to download avg or threat fire..this has been happening to me..for about a week..after I deleted avg. is this simular to what has happened to you?
