Hello,
Power supply went. New PC purchased. Old hard disk with all files is readable on second controller. Used partition wizard & disk shows no boot partition or drive number so it will not boot. XP setup disc does not recognise any partitions as no drive c: . I'm desperate to get Outlook data off old disk - any ideas anyone ?

What your PSU busted? You tired the old hard disk to IDE 2 controller and is readable. You used partition wizard and disk shows no boot partition (active). If you want to copy files from this hard disk don't try to format or partition it or everything will be lost instead get another hard disk - format and install Windows XP. A newly purchased hard disk must be initialize first (Use your partition wizard) before it can be used.
