Was originally looking at the 24" but those resolutions may be a bit overkill as it may eventually stress my 8800 GTX on the newer games. It appears most people stick with 22" monitors. Is there a generally accepted "best"?

Thanks

Nope. Resolutions are all about personal preference. Also note that you CAN lower the res during games without loosing image quality. If you like having more real estate and smaller text, get a higher res. If you don't like smaller text, get a smaller res.

I Think the best all around is SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22" 2 ms.

The next best is the CHIMEI CMV 221D-NBC Black 22" 5ms.

The problem with 24" and up monitors is the response time because most games are response base.

It depend's on what game's your going to play if your going to play the older games like CS or SOF-2 you want a 4/3 instead of la 9/16 or 10/16
If your playing the newer game's then it's the 10/16 22in Viewsonic or other highend like the SamSung. Go 24in if you can afford it I personally limited my buy at 350:00cash and got the Viewsonic VX2235wm it nice but it's a pain on the older games that do so well on the 4/3 like the 19in I traded it in on. when they come up with a 24in 4/3 Ill be upgrading so I can play it all pain free,

To summerise buy a new 10/16 widescreen if you play the new game's and buy a older 4/3 19 or so in if you play the older games. And if your like me and play boath your just stuck unless your willing to buy a nice 19in untill they come up with a larger 4/3 like in the 22 or 24 non Widescreen. BA
