Hello everyone. Most likely an obvious question, but I just replaced a defective 6800 with a new 7600 GT. The GT doesn't require a supplemental power supply like the 6800 did, is it because of less power need or this and a combination of technological improvements?

The 7600GT is on a smaller manufacturing process, and other improvements made by Nvidia. The 7600GT is roughly equal to a 6800 Ultra, if not faster in some cases based on if it's an overclocked 7600GT vs. stock.

No, the 7600 GT is about equal to a 6800 Ultra.

The 6800 GT isn't much slower than a 7600 GT or 6800 Ultra... maybe a few percent like shadowmaster said.
