hey folks, Limpet here!

Got a fresh new one for ya'll today...hows this?

Got a ladies PC that wont power up anymore due to mother board fry-age... yay burning silicon!

At any rate...she wants her data saved from her HDD, no problem right? -makes buzzer sound- WRONG! Why? well, it seems as if she had a password on her OS or something...I now have her HDD attached to my computer via IDE to USB cable kit I have, and I'm getting an "Access denied" message when I try to get into her documents.

Anyone know how to beat this?

Limpet~

yeah, call the lady and ask for her password. at least, ask her to come type it in for you.

Exactly what are you getting the refusal on, the partition or the files within it? What's the OS, etc...

there is no location for her to type a pass word or to have me do it. See, the HDD is attached to my pc using an IDE to USB connector...her OS is WIN XP by the way~

There is a linux cd that will allow you to change the password of an nt style os. It allows you to change the password to anything you want it to be. It worked on NT4 and XP.
