Recommend me a 8800 GTX

I am looking to upgrade from my 8800 GTS to a GTX in the near future - all other things remaining equal - but I am having a major headache trying to choose between all the different brands. My GTS is a BFG OC, and I have a very positive feeling about the BFG series because of it, but does anyone have a recommendation for the brand of GTX to buy? I am not looking for an Ultra as it is way too expensive (and not worth it) but just a normal or OC version of the card.

Anyone have a recommendation?

I would say look at EVGA and their Step Up program. Basically you buy and card and register it with them. Anytime within 90 days you can get a FULL CREDIT towards an upgraded card.

Even if you dont want to upgrade I have been using EVGA cards for a while now and I like them. Also BFG and XFX are really good.

Nick, do you know if you can step up between generations of hardware (like 7000 series to 8000 or 8000 to 9000) or is it limited to one generation?

I guess it would be an option if we knew that 9800 series are coming out and will be more powerful 3 months from now. I will have a look though. Thanks.

ooral, that Scan card looks like a great deal. How are your cards performing so far? What is your 3DMark06 score? How long ago did you buy them?

I am guessing it will work for all EVGA cards.

EX: You buy a 7600GT for $100. In 2 months the 98xx come out @ $750. You can step up your card. Send you card to EVGA along with $650 and you get the new card.

Lol, I will sell the GTS. Are you in the UK (if you are interested in buying)?

Also, does anyone think that £300 is reasonable for a BFG 8800 GTX OC?

I really like my BFG 8800GTX OC. Have had 0 problems with it. Has life time warranty and great support. EVGA does have the nice "step up" program.

Evga;

November is really close and we all are expecting a release from Nvidia in that month and you can just step up then. I've done the step-up and it was easy and worth it.

Dude, I think it's reasonable. I paid CAD$651 for my BFG 8800 GTX OC2, and it's still the same price where I got it from. At a 2.20 exchange rate, £300 is about the same amount. Sounds like a good deal to me, considering that things in the UK are usually more expensive than in Canada. I was in London last week and they charged £6.70 for a daily pass for the bus, for crying out loud. It's only $6 where I live :)

Go to EVGA website and read up on it. I believe you can step-up as much as you want with one exception. You cannot step up a stepped up card (if that makes since). Basically you buy a card within 90days trade it in on a new one, but only once with that card

You can only step up once per product. Say you have a 7900, you can step up to an 8800, but thats it. You cannot step up to something else from that
