The EA Store website has revealed what is most likely the official minimum requirements for Crysis. Those with the beta who have hunted around in the games install directory probably would have found a hint towards these specs also. Without further adieu, I give you the minimum Crysis requirements...
CPU: Intel P4 2.8Ghz or AMD equivalent
RAM: 1GB
Video Card: 6800GT (256mb) or ATI/AMD Radeon 9800 Pro (256mb)
HDD Space: 16GB
OS: Microsoft Windows [XP and Vista I imagine]
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
I would have originally thought that such news would have been published in an official press release. I'm guessing that the EA Store website would have received an internal announcement prior to the official press release. Stay tuned for updates, and also keep in mind that these may not be the official minimum requirements. I'm currently waiting for confirmation.
A 6800GT or a 9800 Pro? A 6800GT is an entire generation ahead of the 9800 Pro.
But who would want to play at minimum settings at low res? I don't get it, what's the point, you may as well buy a PSP.
You can get an awesome average of 20 frames per second @ 800x600 with ultra-low settings!
Hey! I already own a PSP!!
Hehe, just kidding! I guess my 7800GTX won't have any problems at 1024x768 with all medium (My CPU kinda sucks a$$ though), will it?
I don't know, supposedly it has monster physics as well
Crysis would crawl on that system... Would not be worth playing probably.

That also raised my eyebrows. A 6600GT can easily measure up to the 9800 Pro, matching or beating it it most games. Plus, the 6800GT is significantly better than the 6600GT. Is Crytek trying to say that Crysis will run better on older ATi hardware? Will 256MB be absolutely required to play? No love for 128MB cards?
I wonder what the recommended specs are.
probably a 7800/900
If it really does use that much physx, maybe a seperate card like the Ageia or using a low end ati/nvidia card to use physx might give an enourmous improvement to FPS.
I got a 2nd PCI-E slot but after I get the G82 (if tis the new high end) or w/e is for xmas then ill still have 1pci-e slot left over, would be nice to make use of it.
I am currently running AMD 3500 (s939), 1gb PC3200 corsair, 7600GT.
I really want to play crysis, while I would love eye candy I cannot upgrade my pc. Do you think I would be able to play on low settings?
PS. If anyone have an old AMD x2 4200 (s939) or better & another 1gb or ram I would gladly take that off your hands!!
hopefully mine plays it
...Runs excellent with my setup and I dont even have a C2D! all high settings at 1920 x 1200!
what are your specs soldier
X2 6000+ at 3.2 Ghz
EVGA 8800 GTS 640 Mb at 550/1700
2 Gb Gskill DDR2
WD Raptors 150 gb x 2 on Win XP
XFI ExtremeGamer sound
ThermalTake Toughpower 750 Ps
Gateway 24" 1920 x 1200 Panel DVI-D
3 x Sata DVD-RW Burners
Antec Case 5 fans
Zalman 9500 CPU Cooler
Average Fps is 40 on all high settings as shown above using Fraps with latest Nvidia Driver
NO F***ING WAY!!!
These aren't the final system requirements, according to Crytek. It seems that they were posted 'accidently'.
http://www.incrysis.com/index.php? [...] iew&id=483
Hatman: Crysis will have absolutely no support for Ageia Physx.
soldier37: You serious? Everything high at 1920x1200 on you system? God I hope that you aren't kidding, cause that's the res I want to play it at. If Crysis really does run that well, then the programmers at Crytek are gods, considering how amazing it looks.
BTW, does it go higher than 'High'?
You would think they either meant 6600GT 256MB / 9800 pro 256MB (both rare cards) or 6800GT / X800 pro. I got a good laugh out of seeing 6800GT/9800 pro.
Ahhh I remember when some of the best computer games were just words with no graphics at all.......remember Zork.....Adventure....Pirates Cove....etc......we have come a long way since then....I could run them all on my old Commodore Vic-20. ;-P
vic 20 owned
Load
Press play on tape(pressed)
searching.....
found 3d maze
don't even remember how u loaded after that...
Or just pop in the cartridges in the back....
I remember after loading you usually had to type a run command of some kind. Same with the commodore 64 (the best selling computer of all time)
We have come so far, I had a vic 20 and commodore 64, they were great fun.
FROM THIS....
TO THIS....
alright....hand over the wallpaper
O_o 16Gigs of HDD Space!?!??!
im not that shocked by the min requirements..they said 3 year tech would be able to run it..still going to upgrade and knowing that a 8800GTX can run it on high i wonder what the next get is going to do :3
Just how many DVD's are they shipping this on?
16 Gb is pretty much unprecedented, isn't it? What's the footprint of FSX with those high-res map-expansions?
My 3700 will struggle with it.
x1950 pro, hmm.
Na considering I can hardly play current and older games my system won't even run it on min
[quotemsg=...Runs excellent with my setup and I dont even have a C2D! all high settings at 1920 x 1200![/quotemsg]
U dont have a C2D but u have a very nice AMD CPU ,
Hey, soldier37, can you upload a Fraps vid of the beta? At full res and settings with the FPS counter turned on. Better yet, upload 2 vids, one with just the scenery and one with a small firefight. It would be highly appreciated.
The beta is under NDA as far as I know.
^^ Yes it is, but since he has already violated the NDA with the screenshots, and talking about it, I don't think putting up a couple of vids will do anything more. Anyway, who give a damn about the NDA now. Even Crytek/EA can't possibly expect eveyone in the PUBLIC beta will follow the NDA.
But EA being EA, they will prbably try and sue his azz off
Not that it will get them very far.

I've been concerned my computer wouldn't run Crysis well at 1680x1050, and I have an overclocked 8800GTX. Now I just have to hope that my **** ol' AMD CPU is up to the challenge. Thanks for the post, you've likely just relieved every 8800 owner hoping to play Crysis.
Why do you have a grenade on your desk ? ? ? ? ? ?
khkh
^^ Resolution? OS? DX version?
Same thing to soldier37, which OS and DX version are you playing at?
to Heyyou27 , u have an awesome rig mate , your CPU maybe , but its very good and very fast

Please tell me this is a joke!? Either that or your system is poorly configured, running drivers off the disc, and/or bogged down with bloatware? If your's performs that poorly, My FX-55 8800GTS 320MB would be worthless on my 22" LCD.

Thanks, but it's about 2 years old now and needs to be replaced.

While atomicWAR's results appear more realistic, I hope they are wrong. After all, Cevat Yerli did say that a 8800GTS should be able to play Crysis at 1280x1024 High. I don't know what to think anymore.

I think though the Nv FX 5900 XT is a whole generation behind the 9800 Pro. The line just had to be drawn someplace. Just thinking out loud.
^^ I already posted that, half-page ago...
ok, own up, why is that grenade on the desk? its next to the screen and kind of hard to make out but its defintiltly there
no everyone i talked to in the beta server was having the same trouble. were sure its the build and not the cards...my system boots only using 197 megs of ram. i removed all the bloatware, optimsed it and its runs bio shock like a dream so...look forward to the release and final code. sorry i wish i could bitch it was only my machine.

That doesn't change the fact that the 6800GT is about 2x as fast as the 9800XT, so the 9800 Pro can't come close. My guess is it has to do more with amount of video memory instead of actual GPU power.
I got my hands on the Crysis Beta...but no beta cd-key :-(
Not that I'm asking for one, cuz im sure thats against the rules here, but if someone were to know a workaround into playing it perhaps send me a PM :-)
it was supposed to be out @ 25 september !!!! , now it says OCTOBER!?
GRENADE!!!>!>>!!?!?!? EXPLAIN PLS!!!
oh and the delay SUCKS (still, maybe I'll have time to get an 8800 before it comes out)
16gigs of hd space? Wow. Glad I got that 2x320gig raid array.
