Hey, This is somethin I always wanted 2 try for fun:
I've got 2 external modems on this 1 PC with 2 phonelines. I can connect with both of them and then see both connections icons, but when I download it uses only 1 of them. Thus I want to link (multilink) these 2 modems/connections, so when I download 1 file it uses both modems/lines and get a better total bandwith. If you can help me plz pop me a line.
thx

When asking a server to download data, you are giving it an I.P. address to send the data to.(TCP/IP)
Your ISP would assign different I.P. NOs to each modem connection.
I don't think you can do this. You would probably end up getting the same data sent down both modems at the same time, which defeats the purpose.

Ye I know this. I know exactly how all the technical stuff work seeing that I am a CNE/ MSCE etc :P What I mainly want to know is if there's anyone out there whois done this sorta think before. I've always wondered about it since I was younger and now I have 2 lines and modems 2 and can try it. I like 2 try new and drifferent things I've never done... I found a proggy called MidPoint Teamer that does link the 2 connections, but each connection DL's a certain % of the file. It does speed my DL speed to 12 or 14K on some downloads for the time both of them are downloading their %. I was just wondering if there's any other such proggies that works even better. Gimme a shout.

i am not sure of the software requirements on external modems. but i know that diamond made an internal modem that would work with any other internal modem on two seperate phone lines. they called it shotgun technology.
the problem you have is also a problem the diamond modem has and that is your isp has to let you dial into your account twice for it to work. if yours does it just might be a hardware problem.

who is more foolish...
the fool, or the fool that takes his advice?

I seem to remember some time ago there was some software around to enable a dual modem connection, but as mentioned, without this you wont get any speed increase at all eaither with web pages or downloads, as you will only be recieving on one of the 2 ip's.
I'd be interested to hear if you managed to get it working.
