Can anyone tell me if I can make a Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini drive install on Windows 2000 PC? Don't care about making the supplied software work on Win2000 - only require the drive it to act as a normal hard drive. Thanks
If it runs as a usb mass storage device then yes....windows 2000 has UMS support....I am not sure about the OneTouch(backup software)..but if the drive is seen as a normal UMS attached drive it should be fine....
The Win2000 PC sees it as a "USB Mass Storage Device, Maxtor Onetouch USB Device", but that's as far as it goes,
i.e. no 'F' drive appears in Exporer. The drive just continually beeps from there on. Any ideas??
The drive can beep? is there some kind of security on those things?
Damn....looking at maxtors site almost all there other externals support 2000....i would contact them and ask. Last I checked, Maxtor support was free....
I use also the "OneTouch 4 Mini Drive" on Windows 2000. The older "OneTouch III Mini Vista Software" from Maxtor can be installed on Windows 2000. It recognizes the drive and the main functions (backup, restore, synchronize) are available with it.
