(Hard Drive not appearing!!!!!!!)

Ok im using windows vista and i have a 500gb WD hard drive. my computer sees the hard drive but it is displayed as other devices when i go to device manager. i can not get windows to recognize it as a hard drive. and it wont appear in disk management either!

UPDATE:: Ok i just plugged in a usb flash drive and it said searching for drivers and it said it could not find any and the usb drive is not appearing either!

ok so i got it to appear in disk management but i cant partition or format it so i can use it in my computer

Is it formated? If not use UBCD's HDD utilities to format it.
