So I was wondering if anyone here is running a 2900XT 512/1GB on a 24" 1920x1200 monitor.

If you are: what has been your experience?

I don't run my 2900XT on this resolution but I'm read a lot of reviews (20 or so) and most say that with the 2900s 512 interface it really helps at higher resolutions. The 2900XT will do excellently, I wouldn't expect 4xAA and 16xAF at that resolution though.

You should do alright. I'm still running a 6600GT on a new 24" monitor (which is destined for a dual-core PC I have to get around to finishing).

I think his question is about gaming on a 24", not just running it....TH downhill...

I am running a 7900gs on a Dell 24" at 1920x1200 and it does well enough to play most games decently. The 2900xt is much more powerful, so I'm sure you would be fine.

Exactly. Which was pretty much my earlier point about the 6600GT. I would think that gaming usage was as much implied in the question as it was my own comment. Had I gone on to what plays at what FPS etc it probably would have sent the thread off on a major digression.

But if it helps: In a nutshell, most of my games are still just playable on higher settings, albeit with only low AA and AF, which is OK at that res. Not the latest titles obviously, since CPU is then more the limitation on my rig, but HL2, Doom 3 and UT2004 and others mostly run fine (UT especially). For eg. one I did check that ran at about 70 FPS average at 1280 x 1024 dropped to about 40 on the new screen.

When I play CS Source I'm able to play at pretty decent frame rates at high graphics (60-70+). But when I play games like GRAW2 is when it starts to suffer at high res.

But not a huge gamer and my 7950GT does the job in most cases. Probably going to upgrade my CPU/Motherboard at the end of this year or beginning or next. I suppose I can check out what graphics cards are available then.

Here is an interesting article I just read comparing the 2900xt at super high res (3840x1024) in a 3 monitor setup. I know this is not exactly what you are asking but is an interesting article that is somewhat within the realm of this topic. Take note that it also uses the latest catalyst 7.9 drivers, which should help the 2900.

It is somewhat discouraging as I thought that (as has been all ready stated) the 2900 excels at high res due to its 512 bus width.
