Hey guys..

I just grabbed a Hitachi Ultrastar A7K1000 500 GB ( http://www.edbpriser.dk/Products/Listprices.asp?ID=405804# for stats ) upgrade for my old 40Gb Seagate HD and 40Gb Maxtor HD.

My motherboard is : http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=775Dual-VSTA which supports SATA.

The plan was the just take out the 2 old HDs which i've had from 2002 and 2004, and just plug in the SATA HD and boot up with my windows XP cd and make a clean install like the other 3 times I built my own system. I just used the red SATA connector cable that came with Mobo, jacked it into the correct slot on the HD and mobo, inserted black sata power cable that also came with the mobo and started up.

Problem was that after the windows install proggie loads from the windows xp disc, it tells me that no HD is connected (press F3 to abort etc...)

During startup it detects the Hitachi HD, but it cant find it during windows install.... Any idea whats wrong? This is my first SATA HD, so I might be doing something wrong I just dont know about.

Help / advice to getting it running will be much appreciated :)
