Well yesterday I upgraded from a pathetic ati 1600 pro to a nice PCIe evga geforce 8800 GTS 640mb model. I wanted the regular 320 but fry's electronics didn't have anymore in stock....anyways. I got in home properly removed the ati card and all software using Driver Cleaner Pro and installed the new card. It worked great for about 2 hours while playing World in Conflict. I then got a nice blue screen of death, i restart and now it gets to the windows screen fine and the instant it goes into windows the lcd screen shows no signal like it just went into standby. Now even if I press the restart the monitor still won't turn back on. I must actually power the pc off and then back on. Even then it will only work if I go into windows in safe mode, everything is ok then. I have tried reinstalling the card several times and now even after a clean install it does the no signal thing right off the bat unless i go in through safe mode. I got fed up so I tried going through the s-video output converted to the red, blue, green cables and it works fine, no problems and no more weird freezing, or no signals. This is fine except my vga input looks way better and I want to to work with that.

a little background. I only have a vga input, no dvi on my tv. my old 1600 had a vga output so it worked great. my new card only has the dvi outputs so i used the little converter thing from dvi to vga and at first I had no problems. I am using an Insignia 20in LCD tv for my monitor which has never even had a hicup befire. Also I am using windows vista 32bit, newest nvidia drivers, and my psu is good enough as I already checked that to see if it could power the 8800 and everything else. There seems to be no problems with the card other then the dvi to vga output not working all of a sudden. I played world in conflict for about 4-5 hours straight with no freezing, no crashes, no problems.

I was reading I could manually set the edid info for my tv in powerstrip but I have no idea how to use that program. Are there any other things I can try in order to get the dvi output to work? I am spoiled and just spent all this money on a new card so s-video out is not good enough for me. Thanks

I'm actually having a similar problem....sorta... I bought the 320 version and uninstalled all my old drivers and plugged this thing in. Only problem is when I turn my comp on nothing happens with the monitor. It doesn't even recognize that it's there. When I turn the monitor on with the button it just says "no signal check cable etc etc..." won't even run on integrated graphics while the card is plugged in. Not sure what the problem is I plan on taking it to a friends house and trying it on his comp. hope it isn't DOA...
