I'm new to the HTPC scene and I thought I did my research. However, I purchased a bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo which work fine on bootup, but when I resume from S3 standby they are no longer functional. The system must be rebooted in order to use the bluetooth keyboard & mouse. Being an HTPC, S3 standby is a MUST!!!

I've researched the problem a bit and I've seen other people having the same problem and the cause seems to be that the USB port for the bluetooth doesn't have sufficient power to maintain the connection during standby. I've looked at my USB settings in the BIOS and there isn't a setting that allows more power to the bluetooth dongle. Also, there isn't a jumper on the motherboard that sends power to the USB ports. BTW, a USB connected mouse correctly wakes the system up, so I know there is standby power available at the USB ports as-is.

Question: Is there a workaround to get bluetooth peripherals reloaded upon standby resume? If not, does RF have this same limitation? Do some bluetooth peripherals not have this problem? Which ones?

I went for bluetooth because of the superior range that is required for an HTPC setup (15 feet away). I know that some (most?) RF devices do not have that kind of range capability. If RF will solve my problem, can anyone suggest a good HTPC keyboard and RF mouse that has sufficient range?

System Specs: P5B-Deluxe/WiFi, E6300, Hauppauge HVR-1600, Vista Premium 32-bit, 2GB RAM, Rocketfish bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo, Seagate 320GB, 7600GT silent-pipe II, Moncaso 832P HTPC case.
