Help with Computer

I just installed xp onto my computer and everytime I try to update it keeps giving me either the blue screen of death. Or it keeps telling me that the update has failed can anyone give me some help.

My computer specs are: Gigabyte mother board GA-MA770-U3
8 GB Ram
AMD x2 6400
NVIDIA 9500
Hitachi HD 500GB

Unless you're running XP 64-bit, you're wasting money having 8 GB of RAM. It can also cause XP crashes.
