Imaging spending 600 bucks on a GeForce 8800 Ultra, you select 1280x1024 and see a framerate of merely 37 FPS. Well, imagine this then, things will only get worse from here on. In any case you'll need a GeForce 8800 GTS 640 class graphics or higher adapter to be able to utilize the Very high IQ mode. Mind you that 4xAA and 4xAF is enabled here. Forfeiting AA however resulted in a very minor performance difference.

One of the games that need 512+ memory to run good

That is unbelievable. I wonder if they will release a driver fix to help with this game. Those rates are too low.

maybe this game is just a bit ahead of its time. i heard crysis might have the same "problem". Nevertheless, if it pushes the cards to their max, it must look good doesnt it?

it also rises the question whether current dx10 cards can be considered as very good dx9 cards with only a glimpse at dx10

I play this game fantastically at 1680x1050 with everything maxed out in DX10 ! NEVER lags, ( except for when using a Nuke) 8800GTX, ( not ultra!) E6600 @3.4Ghz. Don't believe everything you read.

RTS's play well at lower frames than an FPS. I'm seeing no performance problems at 1680 * 1050 with an e6600@3.2 and an 8800gtx @ 612/1000. Settings all high except view distance very high and 4xAF 4xAA.

There is a built in performance test. I'm getting:
dx9-avg.37 min.16 max 84
dx10-avg.29 min.15 max. 61

I am playing it on a 22’ monitor with my Evga 8800 GTS 320 OC with a duo 6800 and I run it on high and when the action is heavy it brings my comp down to a slow chug! I am also running it on Vista. I think I need to tweak some of the graphic options so that when there is action is does not slow it up that much…

7900gs overclocked at 1440 900 with high settings runs smooth.
