i just purchased an e6750 and a gigabyte p35c dsr mb
when i first ran cpu-z, it showed the core speed in clocks as 1.999 with a x6 multi

after configuring the fsb to 400, raising the voltage to 1.312 (even though i have it maxed at 1.35 in the bios: can't figure that one out), and changing the multi to x8, i got the clock to show a rotating speed of 2400 at x6 and 3200 at x8 in cpu-z

could someone explain to me if i am reading this right and this is in fact correct?
why won't it show a x8 mulit at ~3200?

also, i am using 2gb of patriot ddr 800
cpu-z shows the fsb:dram at 5:6
how can i change this in the bios if the p35c doesn't exactly let me: only affect the spd which is sort of vague?

thanks in advance

i thought that you had my solution, me being a relative noob

but i disabled EIST in the advanced bios and the multiplier still fluctuates from x6 to x8 in cpu-z

disable eist, c1e and tm2 ... all of them are part of powersaving options ... theres lots of threads and forums explaining this ... when on idle it will reduce voltage and multi to save power but as you put load on your cpu the speed and voltage will jump back up.

even if you have 1.35V in bios your actual voltage will be 1.31V as motherboards vdroop so if you want to run it at 1.35V then up the voltage in bios to 1.39V.

you can change the ratios of mem in bios MIT, System memory multiplier, where 2.00 would be 1:1 ratio and you can change the timings of your mem by pressing ctrl F1 in the main screen of bios and going back in to MIT.
